Samsung P580

The Samsung P580 is a high-powered portable laptop for professionals who need to see the bigger picture.

The screen, keyboard and touchpad are great, easy to use and comfortable.
The price tag.

The Samsung P580 would be perfect if it wasn’t for the price tag.
The 15.6inch Samsung P580 is a laptop aimed at businesses and so doesn’t sport the usually impressive and glitzy Samsung design instead it features a rather plain, chunky appearance which is more robust and perfect for office.

However, even though this is a business aimed laptop we could not find any security features expected from such a laptop such as a finger print reader or a smart card reader. It does come with Windows 7 Professional pre-installed and a downgrade disc for Windows XP.

One thing we can all agree on is the great 15.6inch screen with a matte finish which does away with all of those annoying reflections common of a glossy screen. A slightly unusual and unexpected addition to this business laptop is a rather capable dedicated graphics card the GeForce GT 330M that can manage the likes of Call of Duty 4 under low settings and is great if you need to do a spot of photo editing. As with most Samsung laptops the keyboard is large and comfortable to use and even incorporates a numeric keypad. Alongside this the touchpad is large and accurate and the buttons are rather responsive.

The battery life is average with a span of 3.5 hours which is acceptable for use in the office but if you need to take this with you you’ll need to hope you’re not travelling for long.

The Samsung P580 has a great screen, comfortable keyboard and large touchpad even though its gaming and 3D capabilities are limited it achieves what it aims to do and that is be a rather great business laptop.
